Advent Calendar
4146: The Nativity Advent Calendar The Nativity Advent Calendar
By Pockets Of Learning Ltd

Prepare the way for your family to celebrate Christ's birth! This charming Advent calendar includes 25 soft-sculptured figures that help you create more of the manger scene each day as Christmas approaches. Measures 13" x 36".
Materials
( I got everything from Michael's Craft Store)

1 x Dark Green 12" x 18" Stiff Felt

1 x Dark Brown 12" x 18" Stiff Felt

1 x Light Brown 12" x 18" Stiff Felt

Variety pack of Craft Foam
(blue, brown, green, white)

Puffy Paint: Glittery Gold,Glittery White, Blue, Peach, Brown, Black
Red Satin Ribbon Green Grossgrain Ribbon

Hot Glue Gun
Step 1
Sew together both Dark Blue Felt
pieces length wise.
Step 2
Cut the Dark Green Felt Board into 4 strips
lengthwise. Space them evenly on the Dark
Blue Felt you just sewed. From the bottom up,
sew the bottom portion of the Green Strips to
the Blue Felt.
Step 3
Measure and Mark (will be covered by
ribbon) out spaces 2.5 inches across.
Sew up the lines, and This will make you
seven pockets per row.
Step 4
Hot Glue the Green Ribbon to cover up
the stitches between the pockets
Step 5
Use the Red Satin Ribbon to cover the
stitches across the Green Strips.
Step 6
Using the Gold Glittery Puffy Paint, write
on the numbers of the days, 1 through 25
Step 7
Using the Dark and Light Brown Felts,
cut out a Manger Shape and Hay
Ground Covering to fit on the upper
portion of the Calendar. Use Hot Glue
to affix them to the top of the calendar.
All Done!
Cut out shapes from the Craft Foam to
represent Baby Jesus, Mary, Joseph,
Star, Angels, and a variety of animals.
You can click this image to enlarge it to
see how they were created. Use the
Puffy paint to add dimension to the
characters.
Optional Ideas:
Create 25 different characters and store them in the daily pockets for children to
add to the Nativity Scene above (use Velcro to get it to attach to the felt board)

Symbols of Christmas: It would be fun to put each of these symbols into the
pockets of the calendar and to do the Free Activities listed here.

I haven't decided how we're going to hang this, but I'm thinking with red ribbons
on a simple wooden dowel. I'd love to hear additional ideas for counting down to
Christmas, what do you do with your family.
This is an Advent calendar you can make
with minimal sewing skills or some hot glue.
Either way you'll have a fun calendar that
your children will look forward to bringing out
during the holiday season.
We used a foam cross with gold
glitter glue on the sides to use as a
day marker for our calendar.  You
can make your own daily marker or
write a special bible verse on a small
piece of paper for each day of the
month.
